FATHERS

Adam was a father and he raised a family,
Even though he sinned and ate forbidden fruit with Eve.
He worshipped God, and sacrificed on altars made of stone.
He is the father of our race, and Earth was called his home.

Noah was a father and he listened to his God,
Working hard to build a boat to ride upon the flood.
For many years he labored on until the job was done.
He saved the many animals; not one was lost; not one.

Jacob was a father who had trouble with his sons.
Sorrow came upon him when they sold his favorite one.
His Joseph was a blessing as a child and later when
As ruler of Egyptian grain he gave some food to them.

Aaron was a father and the priestly robes did wear.
Leading worship every day before the Lord in fear.
He had a rod that budded, and he held it in the air
For God to bring relief to all the people who were there.

David was a father; a musician and a king.
Many children did he have; to whom he liked to sing.
He praised the Lord, and wrote the Psalms because he loved to pray.
He worshipped God; the same dear God we worship here today.

These men were brave, these men were bold,
they loved, they laughed, they cried.
They held their babies in their arms.
They all grew old and died.
But more than that, they loved the Lord,
with songs; with prayers and praise.
They worshipped Him on Sabbath days.
They searched to know His ways.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE MOVES GOD

John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

Do you have any idea how wonderful this is?

If we love Jesus, then He and the Father come to us!

This is no small promise. This is a very big deal!

All God has ever asked is that we love Him with all our hearts. And if we do love Him, then we will desire to keep the Ten Commandments.

And if we do love Him, then we will desire Spiritual Exercise of prayer, Bible study and meditation.

It’s that simple. Really, it’s that simple.

I invite you to join me today and begin a new life with Christ.

Please add your comments to this thought at the bottom of this post so others can be blessed through your words also.

You and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

Salvation is a one-to-one affair. Family or church worship isn’t enough to form and grow a relationship with God.

So, join me and spend time with God. Spiritual Exercises are fun, You’ll love it!

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

HERE IS A GOLDEN KEY TO THE HEART OF GOD”HUMLITY”

                          Psalm138:6

”Though the Lord be high ,yet has He respect unto the lowly.”

The world is moving so fast and the enemy is mad and angry everywhere.

Each day that comes by brings with it a temptation of ”recognition”.

Each day that comes by comes with a full package of show-off and prestige even in the Church.

The rich want to display their personal gain and the poor strive to be like them.

Men use all sorts of words that are persuasive in order to self at steak.

I must confess, without Christ it is absolutely difficult here .No, we cant make it at any cost.

I am a sinner and suffer the temptation of pride too but each time I look at the cross I marvel at this beautiful condescension.

Jesus our Lord who long was with the Father descended from heaven ,left the peace and glory and suffered shame and anguish unspeakable in the very hands of the men He had created and Lucifer.

Jesus was humblest man hence the devil had prevailed nothing against this son of God.

Get this, the humble don’t die.

Satan in his pride rebelled against heaven and in his pride wanted to kill the son of God but He rose again that Sunday morning.

Praise the Lord!

Christ is honored and respected again.

From heaven to Calvary? Isn’t that amazing?

I thank God for the life of Jesus Christ that demonstrative o His humility the great contrast between pride and humility.

I want to be like Jesus from today.

DO YOU “TAKE UP YOUR CROSS” DAILY?

“Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

These words of Jesus are ignored by many people who think the Christian walk is going to be smooth and effortless.

But Jesus reminds that this sacrifice is a “daily” experience.

It’s good for us to meditate on the cross. This is where we are humbled and it’s where we deepen our understanding of God’s love for us.

I praise God today for His willingness to suffer for our sake that we might be willing to suffer for the sake of our relationship to Him.

ARE YOU HONEST WITH GOD?

“He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

Who hasn’t as a child, or even as an adult, tried to cover a mistake? The thought makes me sad as I consider my many failures.

Politicians lie and try to cover their mistakes.

Let’s face it. Many of us adults also do it, or at least want to.

But when we confess and feel remorse the Lord is eager to give us mercy.

I praise the Lord for merciful love, a love that if forgiving.

I NEEDED A QUICK FIX THIS MORNING, HOW ABOUT YOU?

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

This is a wonderful prayer recorded by David that asks for cleansing and renewal.

The cleansing part is easy and we all do it, but the second half of the verse is also precious.

A steadfast spirit is an attitude change. It is a different outlook on life itself. We might awaken with a self-centered attitude after a fitful nights sleep, or even after a good night’s sleep.

None of us wants to be selfish, but it’s in our genes, our DNA. And we find that only the Lord can help us make corrections in the morning, else our day might do more damage than good.

So, to pray this prayer is a wonderful thing, and I praise God for its inclusion in the Psalms.

HOW FAST DO YOU FORGET YOUR SINS?

“For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.” Psalm 51:3

David knew how to repent. He seemed to understand the significance of his sins.

Oh, that I could feel more remorse for my sins is my daily prayer. It is too easy to become insensitive to our condition as sinners and our sinful condition.

It is just too easy to forget our sins! I know that once they are confessed, then they are forgotten, but I pray that we might understand our need for divine guidance and assistance as we face each new day together.

I pray today for strength from on high that my desires might be holy and true.

I praise God for salvation.

WE ARE FREED FROM THE 2ND DEATH, SO REJOICE IN THE LORD

“Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ.” Revelation 20:6

Yes, there is a second death for the wicked, and this is the death that Jesus died for the righteous that they might have eternal life.

I believe that when Jesus died, He did not know if the sacrifice was acceptable because the Father forsook Him while He hung on the cross.

Jesus was willing to remain dead forever in order for you and me to live.

But He was successful, and was called from the grave, and we rejoice. Jesus conquered Satan’s claims of arbitrary rule.

Jesus demonstrated how loving and how humble God is.

God asks of us nothing nore than He is willing to give and I love that.

I praise God for the plan of salvation and freedom from the 2nd death.

JESUS WAS WILLING TO GIVE UP EVERYTHING FOR YOU

“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9

Jesus “tasted death” for you and for me.

Now, no one can accuse God of being unjust. You and I deserve to be put away and experience the 2nd death, and yet Jesus died that death for us.

I believe that when Jesus died on the cross, He didn’t know if His sacrifice had been accepted. He cried to the Father when the Father turned away from Him and left Him because of my sins.

When the Father forsook Him, Jesus might have wondered if the sacrifice was acceptable, but He wavered not.

Jesus was prepared to die and never see life again in order for you and me to have eternal life.

That love brings tears to my eyes.

I praise God for Jesus, my Savior.

TASTE ETERNAL LIFE TODAY WITH CHRIST IN YOUR HEART

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” 1 Corinthians 15:22

The Christian beliefs are positive for those who love God.

We have a hope that is deep within our hearts. It is a hope based upon words in Scripture that reveal a God of love.

Jesus paid the price and there is no penalty for those who come close to Him through prayer, meditation and Bible study.

I dedicate my life to God this morning and feel His love as the Holy Spirit ministers to my heart.

It makes my day!

You too can have this same experience, and I praise God for making you and me special as He loves us with unfailing love.

IF YOU READ THIS YOU WILL FEEL BETTER

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23

We deserve to die because we can’t be trusted.

We have tasted rebellion and enjoyed it. We know when we do wrong, but we are weak and can’t resist.

But I have good news for you!

Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to help us, and all we need to do is ask.

With the help of God our desires will change and we can become compliant to the perfect life model of Jesus.

And because of His love, we need not worry about the judgment because we can wear His robe of righteousness in the heavenly court.

This is good news. Good news indeed!

Eternal life is a gift we do not deserve, but are invited to accept.

I praise God for Jesus today.

JESUS SACRIFICED MORE THAN WE CAN EVER KNOW.

“who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,” 1 Timothy 2:6

The shock value of the Cross on Calvary is immense. As we consider what Jesus gave up forever. He is now human and incapable of some physical things that He once could do, and He sacrificed Himself for you and me.

Yes, the shock value of the Cross has made a difference and it is permanent.

When we understand how much God must love us to make this sacrifice, then our response increases manyfold.

He was a ransom for you and me as He died the eternal death that we deserve and gave us eternal life that He deserves.

I praise God for Jesus today.

YOU CANNOT SAVE ME AND I CANNOT SAVE YOU

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him.” Psalm 49:7

You and I are guilty, but I believe it’s more than that. I believe that we are untrustworthy to live around angels.

If we were taken to heaven in our sinful condition we would destroy the place.

It would be a disaster. We wouldn’t, couldn’t even trust ourselves.

God’s plan of redemption is the only solution where we accept His love and trust His purification process using the Holy Spirit and a response to unbelievable love as demonstrated on Calvary.

The sacrifice of Jesus inoculates His people with horror at His suffering for our sakes.

Yes, we are changed and sin will not arise a second time.

The Lord’s spirit is steadfast. He is reliable and faithful, and this is our model. This is what we want to be like.

Oh, that you and I could be like Jesus, that we could be as clean on the inside.

Not only that, but He never stopped loving us, as a parent loves a child.

When we think about the Cross and His sacrifice for us, it deepens our love for Him and that is good.

It’s all about love and a loving relationship that you and I care about.

Jesus showed us how to be compassionate and sensitive. He demonstrated a life of service that is a fruit of love.

PLEASE, PLEASE EXHORT ME?

“but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.” Hebrews 3:13

There is an urgency for you and I to help each other.

This is a missing element in many Christian communities who seem to be looking for ways of hurting each other.

We Christians should be more loving, tender and compassionate with each other in order to help not judge.

Once a person has declared Himself or Herself to be one of us, then they should receive special treatment.

I can already hear some readers of this message saying, “Why not treat all people with love?” And I agree, but don’t you love some more than others?

Even Jesus showed us through a parable that those who are forgiven the most love the most in return. So then, we should love those who have been forgiven more.

This will help us edify the church and help it to be purified, and I like that.

I will pray for you and you will pray for me. We will both seek humility in Christ and serve Him faithfully.

Praise God for Jesus who shows us the way each and every day.

HERE IS A GIFT FOR YOU :)

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” Ephesians 2:8

Yes, salvation is a gift for which we are undeserving.

The Lord of hosts who created all things. That glorious being who has always been. The God who is worshipped by all created beings lowered Himself and became human.

The distance that He lowered Himself cannot be measured.

And to make matters worse, He was the child of a poor family. He never had the comforts of life that we enjoy.

Life for His family was more uncertain than ours. And yet He was faithful and now He asks us to follow Him.

God’s grace is unmerited, and full of love.

I praise God for His love.

WHAT ELSE COULD GOD DO? :)

“But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said.” Exodus 8:15

This is a good example of what happens when the Lord’s Spirit is poured out with greater power.

One would think that more power from God would force Pharoah to submit and believe. But just the opposite happened.

And so it is today. You and I pray for people and we ask God for more power, but that only hardens people’s hearts.

God is limited in what He can do for people. Physical blessings frequently lead people to worship materialism.

All we can do is get closer to God ourselves and pray that they might see God in us and feel what they are missing.

I praise God for making every effort for every individual that they might have eternal life.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY :)

“But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, till there was no remedy.” 2 Chronicles 36:16

There was NO other remedy!

Did you read that?

While many think God was evil and unloving, the Bible tells us that there was no other way.

People look at the Great Flood and blame God for killing children. But they fail to consider what life was like where people like Hitler lived 900 years.

Imagine what life would be like in a country with a brutal dictator who reigned for 800 years?

Based upon what we know of God in the New Testament, I can easily conclude that the flood killed all those people because there was no other remedy.

It’s easy to understand on this side of the Cross, but so many people fail to understand.

What we know about God is significant and it helps us interpret some of His actions.

But I love the thought that He bore with the Israelite nation, who rejected Him, until there was no other remedy.

DO YOU HEAR GOD KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR?

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20

Have you ever heard the Lord knocking on the door to your heart?

Think about how God works with us.

Think about the Holy Spirit.

Listen!

Do you hear it?

If He’s not already inside your heart then He is at the door waiting to be invited in.

Even when we get too busy in this world, He patiently waits for us.

He desires us to become close to Him and love Him with ALL our heart.

My friend, this is an imperative. This is important. This is eternal life we are discussing.

Jesus needs more of us than most of us are giving.

This is a “high maintenance” relationship where we need the maintenance.

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

GOD HAS SEPARATION ANXIETY – DO YOU?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

We know this verse. Perhaps this is the first verse you memorized as a child.

This verse is loaded with information and we tend to think about the part that involves us.

We tend to think about this promise of eternal life for which we crave so much.

But read the first part again.

Why did the apostle John refer to the sacrifice that God the Father made in this transaction?

Was it such a big deal that Jesus came to earth?

The short answer must be YES.

It’s difficult for us to understand what Jesus gave up when He came to earth as a babe, as a human babe.

In heaven He was One with God the Father and their relationshup was so close that to tear them apart was a great trauma and sacrifice.

It must have involved pain. It must have been very painful to be separated for 30+ years.

And then Jesus as a boy learned the importance of prayer. He attempted to achieve the same closeness to the Father that He had before.

God wants us to have that same craving. He desires for us to partake of divinity and be holy people.

The Father and Jesus are united once again and the are both bidding us to join them.

What is your answer?

I praise God for His loving outreach to you and me.

DO YOU FEEL MARRIED TO GOD?

“Return, O backsliding children,” says the Lord; “for I am married to you.” Jeremiah 3:14

The Lord is describing the relationship of Himself with His people.

So if you consider yourself to be one of God’s people on earth, then this verse applies to you.

And this is a good example of how close the Lord desires you to come to Him.

He wants us to be intimate with Him. He wants us to share our thoughts; our desires; our sorrows.

He desires us to be one with Him – to partake of divine nature and to be holy.

It’s a wonderful calling and privilege for you and me, and yet so many fail to respond.

But you and I can respond today. We can spend time with Him in prayer and study. We can meditate on His goodness.

I praise God that He wants me and loves me.

EVEN OUR THOUGHTS BETRAY US, BUT GOD HAS A SOLUTION :)

“Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts;” Isaiah 55:7

Our evil actions condemn us.

But you might be surprised to learn that our thoughts are also subject to God’s judgment.

We are what we think, and there is only one way to purify our thoughts, and that’s through Spiritual Exercise where we spend significant time each day with God.

It takes time to train the mind, and we need to be patient with ourselves just as God is patient with us.

When our mind wanders, we need to bring it back and over time it becomes trained.

I praise God for His counsel in Scripture.

SALVATION IS NOT A FREE LUNCH EITHER :)

“Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22

The Lord hasn’t changed.

He has loved men and women since our beginning.

I read history and learn how undeserved it is, but our Lord is faithful.

He pleads with us to look to Him and receive salvation. But this is not like magic. This is not a secret formula.

No, we must get to know Him; but it’s even more than that because we must fall in love with Him.

No, it’s even more than that because we must love Him with ALL our hearts.

Yes, that’s it.

Salvation isn’t free. There is a price and it’s a commitment on our part to form a relationship with God.

We must do our part and it will lead to holiness and partaking of His divine nature.

We must let the Holy Spirit change us as we get closer to Jesus.

Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so.

I praise God for salvation.

DO THE PSALMS HELP YOU AS MUCH AS THEY HELP ME?

“I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:8

This is what I strive for; to be like David and be close enough to God so my heart is in alignment with the Lord’s.

Don’t you want that too?

As I spend time with God in prayer it helps me.

As my love for God increases it helps me.

As my zeal for God’s work grows it helps me.

I praise God for caring for you and me and for being so faithful.

DOES IT MATTER WHAT I BELIEVE?

“And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.” Matthew 24:4

It does matter what I believe because deception does exist and it counts.

But it gets a little tricky about you and me, because people have to decide for themselves.

I can’t decide for you and you can’t decide for me.

It is not up to me to convince you and it is not up to you to convince me, because this is the work of the Holy Spirit.

You and I should be somewhat passive about the beliefs of others, and if someone seeks truth from me, then I will gladly give my testimony.

In the meantime, we can share the good news of Jesus. We can join together and rejoice in salvation. We can be united around Jesus.

We can love each other even if we differ on some points of Scripture.

We can love each other and be a positive influence on all we come into contact with.

This is our calling. This is what Jesus did. The only people Jesus criticized were the corrupt leaders of the church.

I praise God for Jesus and His example for us. I praise Jesus for salvation and His sacrifice.

ARE YOU CARRYING A CROSS TODAY?

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

The meaning could not be clearer.

Jesus told us how suffering would be our lot in life.

Just 2 days ago someone posted to me “I hate my marriage and can’t wait for life to end.”

Does this sound happy to you? Does she sound like she has been blessed?

No, not at all. Abusive relationships are everywhere, and Christians struggle with decisions – enormous, life changing decisions.

In the meantime they suffer like this young lady.

This is why it’s so important for us Christians to really love each other.

We should be super supportive. We should reach out when someone needs encouragement.

We should be proactive and make every attempt to bless each other, because we need it.

We should remember that our churches are hospitals for sinners and not strong forts for the righteous.

I praise God that this young woman spoke out so we could pray for her, and so the Holy Spirit would have more reasons to comfort her.

DO YOU WEAR THE YOKE OF JESUS?

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

Some people read this text and think it means that Jesus is giving us a yoke that will entrap us to be led around like an ox.

But this view is far from true because Jesus in this verse is asking us to wear the same yoke that He wore. It is the only way to receive power from the Father in order to lead a spiritual life.

As we wear this yoke voluntarily our evil desires diminish and are replaced with loving desires and we become more and more like Jesus.

Day by day we can change. Step by step we can take on His character and develop a burden for other souls and do our part to help others

I praise God that Jesus gave us such good advice. I praise Jesus for caring so much for you and me.

IF YOU DON’T FEEL WELL – THEN THIS IS A MUST READ

“Often your mind may be clouded because of pain. Then do not try to think. You know that Jesus loves you. He understands your weakness. You may do His will by simply resting in His arms.”

I live in a valley where many people suffer from headaches caused by the weather. People wake up in the morning and find it difficult to function.

When your head is aching it is difficult to be kind and friendly. It is difficult to perform work at home or at a job.

We feel guilty when we don’t pray the same and we don’t study the Bible the same as when we feel good.

But Jesus cares about how we feel and He understands our problems.

On these days of suffering we can just relax and fall into His waiting arms and bask in His glory.

Don’t you like that thought? I do.

I praise God for Jesus. Our creator who loves us more than we can understand.

IF YOU SUFFER THEN YOU MIGHT NEED TO MOVE :)

“When they persecute you in this city, flee to another.” Matthew 10:23

In the New Testament we have examples of Christians fleeing to avoid persecution and this is wise.

There is no need for us to work in areas that are closed and where we are ineffective.

We need to be smart as we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and work where the harvest is possible.

Sometimes we need to wait for the right time to go into a specific area, and on a personal level we need to be just as wise.

If my family is persecuting me then I should find a place to live where I can grow in Christ and be an effective witness.

My church family can replace my biological family if need be, and you and I can love and be loved by fellow believers.

Today there are many across the planet who are suffering from family members and we need to support them and pray for them.

I praise God today for His family on this earth who are loving and caring.
