The Decision

She couldn’t decide one way or the other.
The quandary befuddled her mind day and night.
For weeks she struggled with nigh a decision,
was torn between heart and conviction of right.

She thought about motivation and feelings,
she wondered if cowardice played any role,
in her questions and doubts about educa-
tion, affecting her heart as well as her soul.

She felt called to nursing, she knew it was right,
as many doors opened, by persons of wealth,
to work with disease and suffering patients,
in order to help and restore life and health.

But doubts still persisted about the right choice,
involving gross fluids and blood and feces.
Did cowardice motivate, or was it right
to reject this calling to deal with disease?

And then one night, in sacred meditation,
she felt a conviction of what she should do,
rejecting her heart in favor of reason,
she settled on nursing–the right choice, she knew.

MY ChIld

MY CHILD

I know you’re living in
another world
with money,
glitz and social distractions,
and life unflagging–no time for
breathing,
in the corporate world
where stress prevails.

Your time is precious and
must be guarded,
subordinates suckle it
eagerly
to their advantage,
selfish underlings
who seek to gorge with
greedy intention.

You left my nest with much
encouragement,
support bestowed,
my heart overflowing,
as gifts of intellect and talent
answered calls to greatness—
destiny beckoned.

Your absence left a
vacuum,
and now there’s
an
empty room where
you once were nurtured,
but
love will follow,
wherever you go,
to greatness or failure,
you’re still my child.

HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

Prov. 4:26 “Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established.”

It is good to ponder and to consider what we have done and where we are going.

Many people live with no regard to their life’s journey.

The spiritual person takes time to consider these things. You and I should
be cognizant of our position each day. Our spiritual journey is important
to us and we cherish a life led by the Holy Spirit, however humble.

Spiritual Exercise helps us to know where we are and how we are doing. It
brings us closer to Jesus each day and helps us see our sinful condition.

You and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give
us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly
change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to
dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used
by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

WITHOUT LIGHT WE STUMBLE IN DARKNESS

Prov. 4:19 “The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble.”

Spend a moment and think about this proverb. People stumble and never know the reason as they wander in darkness.

The student of the Bible and follower of Jesus has light and sees and
understands when he/she stumbles. And then they learn from it and with contrition and humility seek and receive forgiveness. Life then is more of a blessing and not a curse.

Our walk with Jesus leads us to peace and joy while walking in a broken world of sin and depravity.

Spiritual Exercises of Bible study, prayer and meditation on God’s word changes our lives and the outlook we have.

DO YOU LIKE LIGHT?

Prov. 4:18 “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines
ever brighter unto the perfect day.”

Light is the perfect metaphor. Light represents justice, truth and God.

We seek light and through Spiritual Exercise we find it.

God’s light changes lives and brings love into this broken world.

God’s words bring us light and encourage us to live like Jesus. They also
give us wisdom and change our desires. We slowly move toward purity.

Bible study is the best way to find the words of God, and we should make time
each day for this purpose.

We need Daily Spiritual Exercise of prayer, Bible study and meditation.

Are you ready for Instruction?

Prov. 4:13 “Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life..”

Some people don’t like instruction. They want to do everything their own way.

The followers of Jesus are eager for instruction that they might be more effective and live more wisely. These are those who seek to serve and help others who are in need.

The teachable spirit comes about through Spiritual Exercise where the Holy Spirit is invited into the heart to guide and influence for good.

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

Make the Main thing the Main thing

Prov. 4:4 “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom.”

In my opinion, wisdom cannot be overrated. I met someone yesterday who is
very unwise. She has been in jail several times. She spends her money on
foolish purchases, and is wasting her life.

I’m not making fun of her, but just illustrating the importance of wisdom.

As we spend time with Jesus each day, we are guided into wisdom. We have a
choice to make. We can follow, or we can go our own way, and our own way
does not have a happy ending.

Spiritual Exercise of prayer, Bible study and meditation on God’s Word is
critical if you want wisdom.

Spiritual Exercise helps us become smarter. It’s a proven fact.

It also brings us closer to Jesus and purifies us.

GOD’S LAW IS GOOD DOCTRINE – CHECK IT OUT :)

Prov. 3:28 “For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law.”

God’s ways are the best – they are perfect and allow millions of people to live together forever without conflict. Just imagine so many people living in harmony!

No war. No negotiations. No cruelty. No prejudice.

This is what heaven is like, and this is how you and I should be, because we  are already citizens of Heaven.

Spiritual Exercise changes us and prepares us for this loving culture were God rules. I want to be a part of this, don’t you?

We need Daily Spiritual Exercise of prayer, Bible study and meditation.

ARE YOU MANIPULATIVE AND CONTROLLING?

Prov. 3:28 “Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go, and come back,
And tomorrow I will give it,’ When you have it with you.”

It is better for us to be generous at all times.

As we spend time with Jesus in prayer, Bible study and meditation
upon God’s Word, we will partake of His divine nature.

We need Spiritual Exercise of prayer, Bible study and meditation.

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place
of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength.
It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

DO YOU SEEK HAPPINESS?

Prov. 3:13 “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding;”

I’m old enough to see this happen through Spiritual Exercise.

The Bible imparts wisdom. The Holy Spirit imparts wisdom. Jesus imparts wisdom.

The more you study the Bible, the wiser you will become.

Happiness then follows wisdom in Christ.

Spiritual Exercise is the key to unlock this door.

Come on in and partake of God’s divine nature.

ARE YOUR DIFFICULTIES CORRECTIONS FROM GOD?

Prov. 3:12 “For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.”

If you have been corrected by God, then this is reason to feel reassured of His love for you.

Make no mistake, Jesus loves you. He know who you are and understands your background. He knows what has influenced you and is eager to give you help.

Jesus is to be the center of our worship and our attention as we pray throughout the day.

I praise God for this friend and Savior.

DO YOU HONOR GOD WITH YOUR POSSESSIONS?

Prov. 3:9 “Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase”

When we are generous with God, He responds in ways to help us. We might not receive more money, but I’ve noticed how old things work longer and require less repair.

My 20 year old truck still works and I praise God.

Little things can add up to the equivalent of large things.

But our faithfulness with offerings to God opens the door to happiness and spiritual joy.

Spiritual Exercise encourages generosity, and that’s a good thing.

DEPART FROM EVIL? HOW CAN I DO THAT WHEN I ENJOY IT?

Prov. 3:7 “Fear the Lord and depart from evil.”

This verse is simple, but also difficult.

Human understanding would have us believe the best way to depart from evil is to do just that, and there are times when it works fine.

But sometimes we have not the strength to resist. Sometimes we are too weak. What then?

The answer for the difficult times is Spiritual Exercise.

Yes, when we need extra power, we can get it from God. Much prayer might be needed to change our desires.

After all, if I don’t want to steal your car, then I won’t do it. Right?

I praise God for giving us the power we need when we ask for it.

RAISE YOUR VALUE IN OTHER PEOPLE’S EYES WITH THIS PROVERB

Prov. 3:3-4 “Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.”

Esteem by others has to be earned and Bible study provides the path for this journey.

Mercy and truth go hand-in-hand.

Jesus sent us the Spirit of Truth and He asked us to be merciful like Him.

These two things lead to lifestyle changes leading to a more simple way to live with less material possessions.

I invite you to meditate upon this text with me today.

LET’S CONNECT WITH JESUS TODAY AND INCREASE OUR LOVE :)

Prov. 3:1 “My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands;”

We’re talking here of both the Ten Commandments and the higher law of love.

Each day we need to connect with Jesus and renew our love for Him and let His ways permeate our lives.

If only we could be more loving!

I pray that as we begin a new week, we can be full of love like Jesus.

HERE’S WHAT SPIRITUAL EXERCISE RENDERS:)

Prov. 2:8 “When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you;”

I have observed this in other people. Spiritual people who are close to God are also discrete. They are not aggressive and seek not to be the center of attention.

Have you noticed this also?

Jesus was like this, I’m sure.

Through Spiritual Exercise we also will move in this direction and our spiritual sphere of influence will increase.

I praise God for this process that is supported by power from the Father.

DOES INJUSTICE BOTHER YOU?

Prov. 2:8 “He guards the paths of justice,”

It is reassuring to know that God cares about justice.

He is just Himself as He deals with His creation.

His love exceeds justice as His grace is extended to you and me.

There is much injustice today in this broken world. You and I see it and hear about it nearly every day and our God grieves over it.

But, one day soon there will be an accounting and all will be made right.

In the meantime, we are here among this wickedness and it is our calling to be light. It is our calling to become like Jesus and share justice in our families and friends.

We can be salt of the earth and lighten dark places with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual Exercise of Bible study, prayer and meditation upon God’s Word helps us throughout each day.

I praise God today for this help.

HOW REVERENT IS YOUR CHURCH?

Prov. 2:4-5 “If you seek skillful and godly wisdom as you would silver And search for her as you would hidden treasures; Then you will understand the [reverent] fear of the Lord [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] And discover the knowledge of God.

To me, this seems to be a forgotten proverb today.

I see many churches on TV where there seems to be little or no reverence with loud bands and constant rejoicing.

Where are people going to hear God’s “still small voice?”

Modern worship seems to consist of rejoicing with no searching for godly wisdom.

Spiritual Exercise consists of Prayer, Bible study and meditation upon God’s Word. This is where reverence is born.

Think about it.

IS YOUR NAME STILL IN THE BOOK OF LIFE IN HEAVEN?

Rev 3:5 “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

We can do nothing to add our name into the book, because it’s already there.

It is up to us if we want our name to remain there.

If we have no relationship with God, then on the day of judgment, our name will be removed, and no one wants that to happen.

It is up to us. Do we love God with all our heart? This is the test.

You and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

Salvation is a one-to-one affair. Family or church worship isn’t enough to form and grow a relationship with God.

So, join me and spend time with God. Spiritual Exercises are fun, You’ll love it!

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.[paypal_donation_button]

THERE IS AN END TO SIN AND A SINFUL WORLD

Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

I am greatly encouraged to see so many Christians and Christian organizations working to fulfill the Gospel Commission.

Religious issues are prominent and the Holy Spirit is working to guide and while some hearts are becoming hard, others are responding to the love of Jesus.

Let us pray that the end can be hastened and not delayed.

THERE MIGHT BE SORROWS AHEAD, BUT JESUS DELIVERS COURAGE

Matthew 24:7-8 “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Yes, these are the beginning of sorrows.

As we come closer to Jesus through Spritual Exercise of Bible study, prayer and meditation upon God’s Word, these sorrows will have less and less impact.

These sorrows will disrupt the world and cause much stress, but those who love God with ALL their hearts, will not become discouraged.

God’s people will tolerate all difficulties. They will face hardship with courage.

There is a strength from God that helps weather all storms.

I praise God for this prophecy that prepares and encourages His people.

GOING TO CHURCH ISN’T ENOUGH

Mt 7:22-23 “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

No. We need to have Jesus as a close friend!

I have the feeling that lots of Christians leave meet Jesus once a week in church.

Jesus should be our best friend. Afterall, He knows us better than anyone else.

As we grow closer to Him, He comes closer to us. He will guide us and comfort us during difficult times.

He can sympathize with us, because He knows what suffering is.

He understand our troubles, our grief and our pain.

I praise God for Jesus who makes such a difference in this dark, short-lived world.

THERE ARE SIGNS IN THE SKY FOR THOSE WHO LOOK

Joel 2:31 “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.”

This has happened once, already and I expect it will happen again as a sign (Google “dark day”).

So many people don’t seem to care about Jesus. All they think about are themselves.

You and I can be salt of the earth if we come close to Jesus. We can be a sweet influence for good.

God’s clock is ticking and the stakes are large.

But grace and patience from heaven are holding back this time out of mercy.

I praise God for His mercy.

THERE IS A FUTURE DAY OF GLORY FOR ALL GOD’S PEOPLE

Rev 1:7 “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”

I meditate on the scenes of this future day and imagine the happiness of all those who suffered through a dismal life on this sinful planet.

I imagine how happy will be mothers who are reunited with babies.

I imagine who excited will be eyes who see the glory of the Lord for the first time.

I imagine the thrills of victory for the saints of God who meet their Creator for the first time.

Praise God for this love that will not let us go!
