Adam was a father and he raised a family,
Even though he sinned and ate forbidden fruit with Eve.
He worshipped God, and sacrificed on altars made of stone.
He is the father of our race, and Earth was called his home.
Noah was a father and he listened to his God,
Working hard to build a boat to ride upon the flood.
For many years he labored on until the job was done.
He saved the many animals; not one was lost; not one.
Jacob was a father who had trouble with his sons.
Sorrow came upon him when they sold his favorite one.
His Joseph was a blessing as a child and later when
As ruler of Egyptian grain he gave some food to them.
Aaron was a father and the priestly robes did wear.
Leading worship every day before the Lord in fear.
He had a rod that budded, and he held it in the air
For God to bring relief to all the people who were there.
David was a father; a musician and a king.
Many children did he have; to whom he liked to sing.
He praised the Lord, and wrote the Psalms because he loved to pray.
He worshipped God; the same dear God we worship here today.
These men were brave, these men were bold,
they loved, they laughed, they cried.
They held their babies in their arms.
They all grew old and died.
But more than that, they loved the Lord,
with songs; with prayers and praise.
They worshipped Him on Sabbath days.
They searched to know His ways.
