CHECK OUT YOUR FRUIT TODAY, IS IT GOOD?

Mt 7:16 “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”

We look into a mirror to determine our presentation. Is our hair in place? Is our face clean?

We can also look at our fruit – who our friends are, what we do with our money, what we do with our time.

Sometimes we might be disappointed. We might even be happy.

But the truth is in the fruit. It is a good vs. bad issue. One is good and the other not.

It all depends if we are a poison tree or a good tree. And that is determined by Spiritual Exercise.

We must have Spiritual Exercise to be a good tree. We need a closeness to Jesus each day.

You and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

Salvation is a one-to-one affair. Family or church worship isn’t enough to form and grow a relationship with God.

So, join me and spend time with God. Spiritual Exercises are fun, You’ll love it!

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

OBEDIENCE DOES MATTER, AFTER ALL

Rev 12:17 “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

We all know who the dragon is. It is the devil. It is Satan, and he is angry with God’s people.

God’s people are identified by their behavior, and their behavior is determined by how close they are to Jesus.

If you and I come close to God through Spiritual Exercise, then our behavior will change because our desires will change.

We will no longer desire things of this world and we will be more interested in heavenly things.

We will begin keeping all Ten Commandments because we desire it.

We will be more loving to everyone because we desire it.

We will change and become more like Jesus because we desire it.

Isn’t that a beautiful thing?

I praise God for our friend Jesus.

HERE’S WHAT JESUS SAID ABOUT FALSE PROPHETS

Mt 24:11 “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.”

I have never met a false prophet, and hope I never do, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

It is my understanding that in some countries in the world there are false prophets. Men and women claim to have visions from Jesus and then preach heresy or just draw attention to themselves for their own glory. They are proud people with hearts of stone.

The important words that Jesus used in this statement point to deception. You and I don’t want to be deceived, do we?

So, we study the Bible and are led to truth and avoid deception.

Spiritual Exercise is healthy and keeps us out of spiritual danger, and I’m glad for that. How about you?

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MODERN DAY PROPHETS?

Joel 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions;”

Are you cynical? Are you afraid to believe in prophets?

It’s biblical, you know.

Jesus sends us prophets to edify the church. To comfort the church. To help the church prepare for it’s mission.

We test prophets to see if their life and their sayings agree with Scripture, and if they do, then we should embrace them.

Prophets are a special sign from God and we should always be ready to listen.

Are you ready?

DO YOU HAVE CHARITY DURING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON, OR ALL YEAR?

1 Cor 13:11 “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”

This is the time of year when many people donate money to charity.

Many who are suffering benefit from generous donations.

In this Bible text Paul reminds us of the need for constant charity. No matter how good we are in other areas of life, if we fail to have charity, then it displays a heart that is void of love.

If we truly love the Lord with all our hearts, then we will be generous and have charity.

It’s as simple as that.

RECOGNIZE THAT YOU ARE OF THE HOUSEHOLD OF GOD AND THAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL

Eph 2:19-21 “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Yes, we are brothers and sisters and as such, close.

As we come close to God, we also come close to the apostles, and the saints and martyrs.

We come close to the prophets, to Adam and to Eve.

We have much in common, and as we study Scripture we learn of our similarities.

We are in the household of God. Do you feel it? Do you recognize your position?

You are special. You are a princess or a prince.

This should draw us to God. This should incentivise us to more Spiritual Exercise.

REJOICE WITH ME WHEN PEOPLE GET CONNECTED TO JESUS THROUGH BAPTISM

Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”

Notice how these people “gladly” received his word. I like that.

I think it is good to see someone happy as they begin their new walk with Jesus.

Religion isn’t just about truth, sin, obedience and forgiveness. That’s lawyer talk.

No, religion is about my personal walk with Jesus. That’s what matters and everything else becomes fruit from that.

The religious lawyers get all twisted in their words and at the end of the day exhaustion prevents them from drinking spiritual water and they become dry cisterns.

Those who spend considerable time each day with Jesus are the ones who are blessed and a blessing to others.

That’s where I want to be. How about you?

I praise God when a new Christian rejoices, and I encourage you to do the same.

I WANT TO BE A LOVING CHILD OF GOD TODAY, DO YOU TOO?

Eph 4:14-15 “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”

Some preachers shout out their beliefs as if they are angry.

I listen only when I hear love in their voice. How about you?

When we hear love in a voice, then the Holy Spirit will encourage us to listen for truth. We don’t want to be influenced by deceptive words.

Only truth will lead us to Jesus, our Creator and our Savior.

This is what feeds me and gives me courage.

Spiritual Exercise also brings me to the feet of Jesus and the Cross where I can be broken and where I can be healed.

I praise God today for Jesus.

HOW PATIENT ARE YOU?

Eph 4:1-3 “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with long suffering . . .”

Patience can be illusive.

Some people drive cars with no patience. They become angry at other drivers for little or no reason. When traffic slows they become cranky, and mutter words under their breath that shouldn’t be heard.

This is a weakness no different from many others. If you live with such a person, you have a responsibility to be long-suffering with them also.

It gets kind of complicated, but we need to be long-suffering with our family members as well as the general public. It makes a difference if we desire a family atmosphere that is pleasant and stress free.

Everyone benefits when the family is harmonious. When we are all pleasant to each other at all times.

Yes, long-suffering is a wonderful way to live together and there is plenty of it in heaven, you can be sure.

So, join me in Spiritual Exercise today and let’s increase our long-suffering for the benefit of others.

YET ANOTHER CALL FOR MEEKNESS

Eph 4:1-3 “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all meekness . . .”

Meekness is again mentioned in the Bible, so it must be important.

It is an attribute that can come as fruit of the spirit.

As we come close to God, our demeanor changes and we are less self-centered. Our interests turn to other people and we live to serve rather than being served.

This is a wonderful transition that brings glory to God.

It is also a result of Spiritual Exercise that we should all be doing.

WHAT ARE YOU WEARING TODAY?

Eph 4:1-3 “I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness . . .”

To walk with lowliness is to walk in clothing that is simple and not expensive.

I’m not suggesting that expensive clothes are sinful, I’m just saying that the closer to God you come, the simpler you will dress. It is a barometer.

Therefore, we should not treat people differently just because they are dressed more expensively.

We should be like Jesus and treat everyone with the same respect they deserve and the way a loving person would do.

Over the ages, monks and nuns have worn simple garb, and there is a lesson there for us also. We need not have fancy dress and complicated wardrobe. We can live just as well on a few good items.

Don’t let me convince you on this subject. No, just meditate on this verse from Ephesians, and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

This text reminds us of the need for harmony in the church. If I love you, then I will be more reluctant to criticize you. I will care more for you and your feelings. I will be sensitive and loving.

Oh, that we were all as tender as Jesus.

Oh, that we all loved God with ALL our heart.

HOW ABOUT MEEKNESS? DO YOU HAVE IT?

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . meekness, . . .

Many of us have no difficulty with this quote as we are already bashful and introvert.

But there are also times when the pilgrim should act with boldness, such as when going to the throne of God for mercy and forgiveness.

This meekness is most beneficial when we are confronted by unbelievers or by troubling circumstances. This is when it stands in contrast to the character of Satan.

Let’s remember that these fruits of the Spirit contrast the love of God with the hate of Satan.

Let’s also remember that these fruits can be gotten only through Spiritual Exercise.

DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH FAITH?

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . faith, . . .

This is difficult to understand because it takes faith to get the Spirit in the first place.

God places a kernal of faith into the heart to get the process started. This small yearning for God leads to the Spirit of God and then faith begins to develop.

Paul says that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and so we need to do daily Spiritual Exercises in order for our faith to grow.

We all need more faith as we grow in Christ.

I praise God for these words of Paul that help us understand.

HOW GOOD ARE YOU?

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . goodness, . . .

The comment of the actor, Mae West, illustrates how low goodness has come. She said, “when I’m good, I’m bad, and when I’m bad I’m better.”

I believe goodness is more than just being good, and as we come close to God we will do more than just good, and move on to goodness.

Goodness is when the heart is full of good, and good is done, not because of rules or laws, but because it is fruit of the spirit.

When we partake of God’s divine nature, we change inside and become more like Him.

As we do Spiritual Exercise, we walk a path to a place called goodness.

I praise God for so much help. I praise Him for Jesus.

To be gentle is an attribute of love, and if you fail in this, then you know what needs to be done.

Gentleness is something that men, sometimes, think is weakness, but that is not true.

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . longsuffering, . . .

I review my behavior of yesterday and think of the situations where I could have been more patient and more gracious. When things don’t go our way and when people behave differently than we expect we might become impatient.

Some people get very short tempered while driving. Some older people don’t like children. You might not like the food that someone else prepares.

Whatever the situation, our reactions reveal our close we are to God.

The close we are to Jesus, the more like Him we will be and behave. It’s a simple thing that everyone else can observe in us.

Today I plead with all my readers to come to Jesus and spend much time with Him in prayer, study and meditation.

I praise God for this opportunity to be with the Creator of the universe and our Savior.

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

ARE YOU DEPRESSED?

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is . . joy, . . .

Most Christians fail to understand that joy – the opposite of depression and sadness – is found in Spiritual Exercise.

Spending time with Jesus in prayer, Bible study and meditation is like taking a drug to fight depression.

The life of Jesus is overwhelming and creates great feelings of gratitude and that creates the seeds for joy.

This gratitude spills into joy and changes our attitude – lifts it up and influences our subsequent behavior.

Picture in your mind’s eye, Jesus holding a two year old child on His lap. Imagine how the mother feels when Jesus blesses the child.

This imaginary scene brings joy to my heart as I contemplate it.

I’m guessing that the mother was very happy all day after an experience like this.

So, when Jesus listens to our prayers, why shouldn’t we be happy also?

I praise God for our best friend Jesus and want to be like Him.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS! :)

Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, . . . .”

God primes the pump of love and desire in our hearts, and then we come to Him for more and He willingly bestows for our benefit.

And as we spend time with God in prayer, study and meditation, our love for Him continues to develop and grow.

Is it possible to love God with All our hearts at the beginning? I’m not sure, but I can tell you that I love Him more now than a year ago, or a month ago.

Love and obedience are fruits of our relationship with Jesus. The closer to Him we come, the more powerful will be the fruit.

It’s a simple process – Spiritual Exercise, and I wish for you to partake of God’s divine nature through this daily experience.

I praise God for this power that He wants us to use.

I WANT TO BE LIKE THE APOSTLES, HOW ABOUT YOU?

Acts 2:42 “And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

I love this text because it portrays my deepest sentiment. I want to believe what the apostles believed. I don’t want to follow the beliefs of other people.

It seems to me that the apostolic doctrines are pure. They are untarnished by human ideas. They reflect truth.

Many doctrines have been introduced in the past two thousand years, and they might be interesting, and they might make some happy, but I try to ignore them and stick to the apostolic doctrines.

Church tradition, they say, is important and binding. But I believe the apostles would reject them outright.

I’m NOT suggesting that those who follow church traditions are losing their salvation over it. But I AM suggesting that the apostolic doctrines bring peace and love into the heart and are sufficient.

I want to be like Jesus. I want to act like Him. I want to believe what He taught. I want to be sensitive and loving like Him.

And so I focus all of my attention on what He taught, and that’s how the apostles lived and worshiped.

I praise God for Jesus.

HOW DO YOU USE YOUR LIBERTY?

Gal 5:13 “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

The American Declaration of Independence talks of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But the Bible talks of liberty and the freedom to serve others.

There is a large difference between these two, and Jesus would have us use liberty for spreading love to others.

While the world seeks happiness, the believer should seek peace and opportunities to spread it further for the benefit of all people.

Most fail to realize that when we draw close to Jesus, we also receive happiness – a pure and holy happiness that doesn’t fade like Satan’s substitute.

I praise God for the liberty in the country of my home, and pray that you also have liberty to go in peace where the Holy Spirit leads you today.

IS WASHING A STRANGER’S FEET CREEPY?

John 13:14-15 “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.”

Many churches incorporate this act of love into their service as a reminder of these words of Jesus. The Pope even does this once each year.

So, why doesn’t everyone do this as an act of humility and love?

Why do some people think this commandment is an option?

Can we pick and choose which commandments of God to obey?

I can hear people thinking, “It’s only symbolic of how we should treat people.” And I respond by saying, “Does Jesus washing the disciples feet look symbolic to you? Or does it look real?”

We need to break down barriers that separate us from serving others in a personal, touching manner. This is true humility.

I’m so thankful that my Savior is willing to touch me and love me with tender hands.

WILL YOU HELP SOMEONE THIS WEEK?

Mt 25:40 “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”

This is an easy thing to forget. Those who are in need are blessed when we give them help.

And when we help the needy, we are partaking of God’s divine nature. We are brought closer to Him.

To help those who need it, is to be like Jesus. This is a noble and honorable work.

Sometimes, just an encouraging word or verbal exchange can make a difference.

We should be smiling and eager to spend time with people who will benefit from our presence.

The needy should not be looked down upon. They should be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve as a child of God. In this work we need to be humble as was Jesus.

We can be a blessing in more ways than one as we minister to others.

I praise God for the example that Jesus is that guides us in this service.

HOW FORGIVING ARE YOU?

Mt 6:14 “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you”

This is very difficult to do at times.

On Facebook there are videos of great trespasses and it angers me to see people suffer. I read comments about what should be done to this person or that and they might be warranted, but shouldn’t Christians be more interested in the welfare of the persecuted than justice to the persecuter?

But forgiveness should come from the heart of those close to Jesus. We should not be quick to utter harsh words.

Yes, we will be abused. We will be looked down upon by some, but we will take the high road as did Jesus.

We will be willing to forgive only if we engage in Spiritual Exercise, because only the Holy Spirit will give us the desire and the strength.

This is a blessing we should embrace.

I praise Jesus for His eagerness to forgive.

DO YOU FEEL THE HOLY SPIRIT INSIDE YOU?

Mt 3:11 “he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.”

Have you been baptized with the Holy Ghost?

If you have not, then you only need to get closer to God. And this is where Spiritual Exercise helps.

Spending more time with God each day allows the power of the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. It allows the Father to bestow His power upon our lives to help us and to be a blessing to others.

Our life will change and we will desire to help others more than before. We will live a life of self-denial and service.

In short, we will become more loving, just like Jesus.

Don’t you want that? I know that I do.

I praise God for helping us and showing us the way through the life of Jesus.

SHOULD WE BE CLOSER THAN WE THINK?

1 Cor 12:13 “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body”

Yes, we are ONE body, regardless of differences of theology.

We follow Jesus Christ and embrace Him as our Savior.

Jesus sent the Spirit of Truth for us to learn as we study the book of nature and the Scriptures.

You and I are on the path of truth, although we might be at different places. One person is ahead of another, but all are saved as they journey on the same path.

This is very comforting to me, to know that love is the main characteristic of all believers, and of God.

I praise God for His love and His desire that we should be one in Him.

IS THERE ANY GLADNESS IN YOUR LIFE TODAY?

Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:”

I love the word “gladly” in this text. I long for this feeling when I connect with God.

As I write this post the sun is about to break over the horizon and the eastern sky is pink/orange. The beauty is inspiring and brings gladness to my heart.

Much of the Christian experience involves gladness, an inner gladness, and I am thankful for this.

Rejoice with me and thank God for Jesus who sends His Spirit to sustain us on our holy journey and in our holy work.

I praise God for all the blessings He gives.

HERE IS A GOLDEN KEY TO THE HEART OF GOD”HUMLITY”

                          Psalm138:6

”Though the Lord be high ,yet has He respect unto the lowly.”

The world is moving so fast and the enemy is mad and angry everywhere.

Each day that comes by brings with it a temptation of ”recognition”.

Each day that comes by comes with a full package of show-off and prestige even in the Church.

The rich want to display their personal gain and the poor strive to be like them.

Men use all sorts of words that are persuasive in order to self at steak.

I must confess, without Christ it is absolutely difficult here .No, we cant make it at any cost.

I am a sinner and suffer the temptation of pride too but each time I look at the cross I marvel at this beautiful condescension.

Jesus our Lord who long was with the Father descended from heaven ,left the peace and glory and suffered shame and anguish unspeakable in the very hands of the men He had created and Lucifer.

Jesus was humblest man hence the devil had prevailed nothing against this son of God.

Get this, the humble don’t die.

Satan in his pride rebelled against heaven and in his pride wanted to kill the son of God but He rose again that Sunday morning.

Praise the Lord!

Christ is honored and respected again.

From heaven to Calvary? Isn’t that amazing?

I thank God for the life of Jesus Christ that demonstrative o His humility the great contrast between pride and humility.

I want to be like Jesus from today.

JESUS TOLD HIS PEOPLE WHAT TO DO & IT’S HAPPENING

Mt 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”

It is thrilling to me to consider the number of people from so many places that are doing this work.

Missionaries from so many countries are serving in so many other places, even each other’s countries.

And yet the work is not yet complete. But there is hope as new doors open and hearts are changed.

You and I need to support these special ambassadors for Christ with prayer and money.

It is our responsibility to join in this effort with love and emotional support.

We may not do the baptizing, but we can share the Holy Spirit, right?

John 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

To be born again represents the freshness that comes daily to the Christian.

We die and are born again when we are baptized with water and we die daily and are born again daily as we are baptized by the Holy Spirit.

To have a new life each day is rejuvenating. it is exciting. It overcomes depression.

The life of a dedicated follower of Jesus is a life of energy and positive expression.

It brings life to the heart. It brings salt to the earth. It brings light to all around.

I praise Jesus today for His invitation for us to be born again.
