HOW DO YOU TREAT TROUBLEMAKERS?

Rom 16:17 “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”

The act of shunning should be a last resort and I believe that institutional shunning should be reserved for those who are most disruptive, that is, those who would ruin a worship service or some other meeting.

Personal shunning is done all the time as we personally avoid spending time with certain people who are offensive to our tastes.

Personal shunning of certain people who are prejudiced or who don’t bathe are good examples.

You and I can and should be careful to spend time with people who edify and who help strengthen our faith.

However, even if I’m shunning, I still try to be gracious. I will talk to them and I will answer questions, and I will help them if they need it. I never want to appear to be unloving to anyone.

The media has emphasized shunning in the worst light, and I’m sure that it is and has been abused.

Christ shunned the pharisees. He shunned those who didn’t believe, and yet He loved everyone. I want to be like Jesus. How about you?

I praise God for Jesus and the Gospels that we can read and study.

What say you about God today?

MySpiritualExerciseSmallYou and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

Salvation is a one-to-one affair. Family or church worship isn’t enough to form and grow a relationship with God.

So, join me and spend time with God. Spiritual Exercises are fun, You’ll love it!

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

Amen(0)

ARE YOU READY TO SEE GOD’S POWER?

Acts 6:8 “And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.”

Stephen was a deacon – nothing more.

Some might think that miracles were associated with the apostles only, but this text clarifies that any of us can be used by God as He sees fit.

I pray that we all would be close enough to God that the Holy Spirit could release great power and people would be attracted to Jesus.

Today if this happened, you and I would probably become full of pride and misrepresent God.

Oh, that we would have sufficient humility that God could use His power more openly and that more souls could be drawn to Him.

Only with Spiritual Exercise can you and I be prepared for such a role to be used by God.

Join me today and love God with ALL your heart.

ARE YOU WALKING IN THE SHADOW TODAY?

1 John 1:7 “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

We need not walk in the shadow.

You might think that the shadow is fine, but the apostle John counsels us to come into the light.

We should be the light of the world and we should be one with Christ – holy people.

This is our calling. This is our destiny if we accept it.

Each day unfolds new conditions and new challenges for us to respond to with guidance from the Holy Spirit.

And Spiritual Exercise prepares our hearts to do the will of God.

It’s a simple but powerful process.

I praise God for this blessing.

IS GOD ONE OF YOUR CLOSE FRIENDS?

1 John 1:3 “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

Jesus should be our closest friend. Do you agree?

If He is your closest friend, then how often do you talk about Him?

Don’t we always talk about our friends?

So why are we reluctant to talk about Him?

Spiritual Exercise helps us to put things in their proper perspective. It helps us to place our priorities in proper order.

We have something to say about God and it not only helps our listeners, but it helps us when we hear our own voice. Words about God soothe the soul and calm the spirit.

Jesus cares about us and wants us to love Him with ALL our hearts.

I praise God today for Jesus.

WILL YOU EXHORT SOMEONE TODAY?

Heb 3:13 “But exhort one another daily. . .”

Are you a cynic? Are you prone to criticize? Are you always looking at the worst outcome?

I know that some people struggle with this issue as they look at, and dwell on the negative.

This Bible text reaffirms that you and I should zero in on the positive and look for ways to encourage and help others.

We are all sinners, and yes, bad outcomes are a part of life. We need counsel to avoid problems, but this counsel can be expressed in a positive manner.

So, go ahead, and exhort me and I’ll exhort you too!

May your day, today be blessed.

I praise God for these words of counsel from the apostle Paul.

WHO DID YOU OBEY YESTERDAY? WHO DO YOU WANT TO OBEY TODAY?

Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.”

Sometimes it comes to this. Sometimes there are conflicts between laws of man and laws of God.

The apostles were strong after the resurrection and made good decisions and were used by God in great ways.

You and I will also obey God as we grow through Spiritual Exercise.

It is a growth process and the apostles were failures at first and grew over time.

The same thing occurs with us and I encourage you to grow and partake of God’s divine nature and embark upon a journey of holiness.

I praise God for these examples from men who were once so very weak.

DO YOU KNOW WE RE NEAR THE END?

Mt 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”

We are approaching this point where the gospel is reaching all the world. Radio, TV, Internet and word-of-mouth is doing the work.

This is also good news signaling the end of time.

Time is short and so many have fallen away.

We need to share the love of God, but first we need to engage in Spiritual Exercise each and every day so we can be full and overflowing with this same love.

I praise God for love and it’s many benefits to all who are blessed with it.

OUR SUFFERING WILL ONE DAY BE A BADGE OF HONOR

Rev 12:12 “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”

The devil is angry. He wants to torture you and me. He is the prince of this world for a short time only, and his end is near. His wrath is upon us and causes great pain and suffering.

We have this knowledge and it should give us encouragement as we understand this great controversy between God and Satan.

Satan started this war with God with his selfishness that grew and grew and changed him into a monster.

God remains loving and assures us that there is a future for His people.

The pain and suffering we experience today is Satan’s work not God’s.

God is on our side with love and compassion.

Jesus is our best friend.

I praise God for His love.

HAVE YOU EVER MET A WOLF IN CHURCH?

Acts 20:29 “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.”

Yes, wolves we have seen.

Whenever someone disrupts the flock and fails to be gracious, then they act as the wolf.

We don’t judge the status of their salvation, but we do judge good and innapropriate behavior.

You and I should edify the church with all we say and do. We should never “stir the pot” so to speak.

Jesus was always polite and considerate of others. He was gracious and kind and the only time He was severe was when confronting the church leaders who were hypocrites.

There is much to learn from Jesus and I praise Him for His great examples.

HOW MUCH TROUBLE ARE YOU PREPARED FOR?

Dan 12:1 “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.”

Sin is let loose and is running its course on earth.

Satan is in charge and is doing nothing, not a single thing, to benefit the human race.

There is coming upon us a time of great difficulty.

While the world implies peace, we know that difficult times lay ahead.

Those who are close to Jesus will be gracious when under duress, while the world sinks to its lowest level.

If there was no food, would you share what you have?

What would Jesus do?

Only through Spiritual Exercise can we be fully prepared for this dark but temporary future before Jesus comes again in His Cloud of Glory.

I praise God for this brilliant future for His people.

ARE YOU A LIGHT ON A HILL?

Mt 5:14-15 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”

Last evening I watched the sun set in the Bad Lands of South Dakota and when it was over there was very little ambient light so the darkness was extreme.

It was so dark that the smallest light that was far away made a distinct impression upon my mind and reminded me of these words of Jesus.

Today cities over the horizon reflect light into the sky at night and reduce the impact of this illustration, but when you leave the cities it becomes more dramatic.

You and I are asked to be spiritual lights on spiritual hills in a world of spiritual darkness.

Of course we don’t spread our own light, but the light of Jesus.

We should not be severe and cold people, but warm and loving.

We should be living a life of service for the benefit of others.

Jesus is our example and He asks us to love God with ALL our hearts and let that love penetrate our entire life.

I praise God for Jesus.

IS SATAN DECEIVING YOU TODAY?

Isa 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

This counsel reminds us that there is false beliefs and there is deception.

It matters what we believe.

It’s not enough to have faith. We must also follow the Holy Spirit.

As we do our daily Spiritual Exercise the Lord will guide us into truth.

So, there is no reason for us to feel stress about this topic, as long as we are walking with God and listening to that still-small-voice.

This is so wonderful for us to live in this broken world and be light, however so small or large.

I praise God for using you and me for the benefit of others.

1 John 1:3 “Our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.”

Why then are so many people afraid of God?

Why do they pray to saints?

Why go to anyone else?

We have a friend, actually more than a friend, in the Father.

Jesus told us to pray to the Father.

Why would anyone disobey Jesus and pray to someone else?

I praise God for His love for you and me and am so glad that He wants me to talk to Him.

Eph 5:1 “Be therefore followers of God, as dear children.”

We need to spend time each day examining the life of Jesus.

Reading the gospels in the Bible helps us to understand more and more about Jesus and His ways.

Oh that we could be as loving and patient as He is.

That is my prayer today.

I praise God for Jesus.

Gal 6:10 “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.”

Christians should be generous with each other.

I believe we should support Christian businesses with our shopping.

We should be eager to mentor Christian young people.

We should pray and encourage each other.

The Holy Spirit will help us in this area.

As we help each other we can all grow closer to Jesus and that is all good.

Oh that we might all be like Him today.

I praise God for these words of wisdom and counsel from the apostle Paul.

Gal 4:6 “And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.”

DO YOU KNOW HOW SPECIAL YOU REALLY ARE?

Gal 3:26 “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

This is the 2nd day on the same topic. You and I are children of the greatest king ever to live.

I’m repeating yesterday’s post below because it is so important.

You are not only holy, but you are also royalty. When you live in heaven after the 2nd Advent of Christ, you will be viewed by all living creatures as a special person. You will be closer to God because your love for God is greater, having been forgiven for so much.

Christians today fail to appreciate their special position as a son of God or a daughter of God. This is a great position.

Let’s remember, however, that humility is also a trait of God, and must be found also in His people and His sons and daughters.

These Bible texts should help us look at ourselves differently.

If you have low self-esteem, then read this text more often. It will help you.

If you are suffering from depression, then take courage in this truth.

I praise God for this honor to be His royal child.

HOW CLOSE TO JESUS ARE YOU TODAY?

Jer 3:14 “Turn, O backsliding children, saith the Lord; for I am married unto you;

Does this help you understand how close Jesus wants you to be with Him?

The church is His bride. You and I are the church, so we are His bride.

Our relationship with Jesus should be intimate. Yes, intimate.

Through Spiritual Exercise we come closer and closer to Him, and then everything changes, even us.

This is what Christianity is all about. It’s about change and how we become more loving to others.

I praise God today for this plan for the sanctification of His saints and for this plan for the salvation of others.

YE ARE ALSO CALLED TO BE HOLY – AGAIN

1 Peter 2:5 “Ye also are an holy priesthood.”

Our occupation tends to define who we are. We see ourselves as categorized by our profession.

God wants us to see ourselves as priests and priestesses because this is more important than what we do for a living.

We need to aim higher. We need to accept the calling to be holy leaders and view ourselves in this light.

We are holy people when we engage in Spiritual Exercise and this should affect our outlook on ourselves and what we do.

Our occupations change not, and our income remains the same, but our purpose for living can be transformed.

We can begin to live like Jesus did as we seek to serve others out of love.

This transformation will fill us with the Holy Spirit and people will begin to view us differently also.

What a wonderful blessing we can be to the world.

I praise God today for this plan for the sanctification of His saints and for this plan for the salvation of others.

YE ARE ALSO CALLED TO BE HOLY

1 Cor 3:17 “the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”

Most of us underestimate the role that God desires for us to fill. We look at our lives and feel trapped by circumstances. We prefer to do bigger and better things. We want more money, power and prestige.

While we wish for all of the above, we neglect to appreciate the benefits of being holy.

To be holy is to have a reinforced (from God) self-confidence and peace that renders an incredible experience.

The holy person lives on a different plane.

The holy person has no worries.

The holy person has direction.

The holy person has no doubts.

The holy person becomes very influencial and important.

So, why then do we ingore this calling from God?

I pray that each of us will come closer to God with Spiritual Exercise today.

I praise God from whom all blessings flor.

YE ARE THE TEMPLE OF GOD

1 Cor 3:16 “ye are the temple of God”

This should be a sobering statement. Literally.

When we contemplate the meaning of this statement, we should be humbled. We should be more serious about our responsibilities.

My older brother was always serious about his responsibility for caring for me when we were young. I look back in my memory and am thankful. You and I need to have that faithfulness regarding God in our life.

I invite the Holy Spirit to guide me in the morning and I become a willing and eager temple for His presence.

It is good to talk and think about this process that provides us so many benefits.

I pray that those who meet me today will sense the presence of God and will desire it for themselves.

I praise God for His desire to be this close to me.

ARE YOU WORKING WITH GOD TODAY?

1 Cor 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God”

Notice that it says we labor “with” God and not “For” God.

This fits nicely with the words of Jesus that we are to be one with God.

We aim too low. Sometimes we think we should stay at the bottom rung of spirituality, when we should be striving for the top rung.

I don’t mean that we struggle with sin, because that’s not good. There is no need to struggle with sin. Sin will take care of itself if we get lots of Spiritual Exercise.

Why should I struggle with sin when God can change my desire for that very same sin?

Just come to God with ALL your heart and that sin will go away by your own desire!

Let’s face it, the sins we want to struggle with are the one’s we most desire.

Our DNA is messed up and God can change it, if we let Him.

I praise God for wanting us to work “with” Him. What glory can I then share!

AS JESUS IS GENTLE, SO SHOULD WE BE

Col 1:18 “And he is the head of the body, the church”

If the husband is the head of the wife, then he should treat the wife as Jesus does the church. Right?

I am a man, and I should learn from this. I should be patient, tender and sensitive. I should be a good listener and a good provider.

Jesus is the head of our church and the Holy Spirit is a power much like the wife is in a marriage.

The Trinity works in harmony and we work in harmony only when we come close to God through Spiritual Exercise.

I praise God for this knowledge that brings so much peace to my heart.

ARE YOU OVER DOMINATING YOUR WIFE?

Eph 5:23 “For the husband is the head of the wife”

I sometimes struggle with these words from the apostle Paul.

In the 21st century I view my wife as my equal. The Holy Spirit guides her as well as me. We both pray and we both love the Lord.

It is always my desire to please her and many times her feelings are stronger than mine, so we do what she wants and it is a beautiful thing.

So what does it mean to be the head of the wife today?

For me it means that God looks to me to care for her and to feel some responsibility to make sure she has time for daily Spiritual Exercise and all the spiritual support I can provide.

This is not about controlling purse strings or what books to read or what food to eat.

To be close to Christ is to live in harmony where all parties are led by the Spirit of God.

I praise God for closeness and intimacy with Him that brings us all closer together.

ARE YOU HEALING RACISM WHERE YOU ARE?

1 Cor 12:13 “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body”

Last evening I made a new friend whose skin color is different than mine. We exchanged only a few words, but he and I are both baptized into one body.

Therefore, he is now special to me. We are working for the Lord apart and together as the Holy Spirit leads.

We are baptized into one body.

Christians should be world leaders when it comes to ratial harmony.

Christians should never even think of someone else in a negative way because of race.

It hurts me to view video of law enforcement officers who are racist and who probably go to church each week.

I’m glad for this new emphasis in America that is intended to purify the police department and sheriff office.

But you and I can play a part and be stellar examples of love.

When we spend time in Spiritual Exercise we will become new creatures in Christ.

I praise God for the examples of how to live that Jesus gave to us so we can be changed.

WE NEED TO COME OUT OF BABYLON

Rev 18:4 “And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

Has there ever been a more direct statement made for us to come to God?

Jesus repeated the thought when He said we should love God with All our hearts.

The world is tempting. The world sucks us into it’s treadmill, and we must break free and come close to God.

Spiritual Exercise is necessary and brings us into the sphere of God where we can be influenced by the Holy Spirit.

My friend, your time may be short, so I emphasize the importance of this topic.

I praise God for this counsel from the apostle John.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT NON-BELIEVERS?

Rom 2:14 “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:”

I am so very glad that Paul wrote these words to the church.

Let me explain what it means.

If a heathen, or Buddhist or Muslim or Jew or any other non-Christian loves God with all his/her heart, then they are saved!

And when you consider what it means to love God with all your heart, then you will begin to understand why this is true.

When we love God with all our heart, we become more loving ourselves. We change and become sensitive and caring. We begin to serve others and we follow the laws of love.

Isn’t this beautiful?

God has His people everywhere. You and I might believe different things about what the Bible says, but if we comply with the command to love God with all our heart then we are truly in God’s true church.

I praise God for these words from the apostle.

ARE YOU SUFFERING TOO?

Acts 9:16 “For I will shew him how many things he must suffer for my name’s sake.”

Yes my friend, you and I might be called upon to suffer.

It might be job related or it might be a health issue. We don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that Jesus will be with us every moment of the day.

Suffering comes in many forms and we know it when we feel it.

But God has a plan and He is in ultimate control as He lets sin run its ugly course.

You and I hate sin, but we live in a sinful planet that is broken. We are called to be salt and light and receive the wrath of Satan.

Jesus never asks us to suffer more than did He on the cross at Calvary and we can be comforted by this thought.

He cares about us and has an eternal reward for us that is too glorious to describe.

I praise God for salvation.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF GOD’S FOLD TODAY?

John 10:16 “there shall be one fold, and one shepherd”

What does this mean? Does this mean that only one church is valid?

I believe that my church is just a tool for me to use for ministry. It is a place where I serve others and where I encourage other believers. Of course, it’s also a place where I worship God.

God’s church is made up of the people who love Him with ALL their heart. That’s it. That’s all there is to it.

You and I don’t need to worry about our brothers and sisters. All we need be concerned about is our own relationship with God.

There is one fold, and it’s in the arms of Jesus. All else is an overstatement.

This doesn’t change truth and Jesus said He would send to us the Spirit of truth and we need to listen as the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth.

So you and I might believe different things about God, but if we both follow the Holy Spirit we will eventually end up with the same beliefs.

Again, the important thing is to be close to Jesus through Spiritual Exercise.

I praise God for these words of encouragement from the apostle John.
