DO YOU LIKE TRUTH?

Phil 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, think on these things.”

By beholding we become changed, and meditating upon biblical truth is a component of the mechanism that brings about change in our characters.

So when we read the Bible we can seek truth and let it linger upon our hearts. We can ponder it throughout the day.

This meditation brings about change in our desires and we become more and more like Jesus.

This is the process of sanctification that makes us holy.

This is the process that fills us with the Holy Spirit.

I praise God for this power from the Father resulting from Spiritual Exercise.

You and I can benefit much from studying the life of Jesus. It will give us the same power from the Father that He received. Power that will slowly change our desires to be more pure. Power that will slowly help us to dislike sinful things. When our desires and “likes” change we can be used by God as a sweet aroma to help others.

Salvation is a one-to-one affair. Family or church worship isn’t enough to form and grow a relationship with God.

So, join me and spend time with God. Spiritual Exercises are fun, You’ll love it!

If Jesus spent all night in prayer then why do we think we need so little?

Jesus would arise early in the morning and go outside and find a place of seclusion to pray. He spent time with the Father and received strength. It allowed Him to resist temptation. It allowed Him to succeed in His mission.

HOW HONEST WILL YOU BE TODAY?

Rom 13:13 “Let us walk honestly”

This is a topic I don’t hear much about these days, when people refer to lies as “spin.”

In today’s culture is seems okay to be a liar. It might even be bragged about. It certainly bears no shame.

But we Christians should be honest. Never swindling, never trying to get a bargain that is too good.

Honesty has good benefits and reflects the character of Jesus.

Today many in Washington D.C. will be celebrating and demonstrating.

Let’s pray that those who are Christians will be good examples and will be honest and upright in their activities.

I pray for peace and I pray that Jesus will be seen in the lives and actions of His people.

DO YOU LOVE MONEY, WEALTH OR JEWELRY?

1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.”

It’s easy to love money. Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, died a billionare, and he finally understood these words. Money does NOT bring happiness.

In the last five years, many wealthy bankers have committed suicide. They had lots of money, but an even greater amount of stress and inner turmoil.

Only through Spiritual Exercise can we leave the world behind and change our desires for things eternal.

We can learn to love God with ALL our hearts, and let Him direct our paths.

It is a beautiful formula for success and peace and joy.

HOW MUCH WINE DO YOU DRINK?

Eph 5:18 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;”

When you consider these words carefully, you might, like me, conclude that any drink that makes one light-headed or silly is also not good.

Anything that interferes with the Holy Spirit in you, should be avoided.

We are vessels for the Holy Spirit and, as such, need to always be aware of this great responsibility.

So, therefore, mind what you eat and drink and do.

You and I are ambassadors for Jesus at all times.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THESE WORDS?

Gal 6:1-2 “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness;

Yes, the church should be more like a hospital than a court of law.

We should ever be ready to give someone assistance. Help them and lift them up and provide encouragement in meekness.

This is what today’s church needs.

Are you ready to do your part?

Spiritual Exercise prepares us to love our brother and to help.

This is what Jesus did.

DO YOU USE YOUR FREEDOM TO HELP OTHERS?

Gal 5:13 “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

We all desire and love liberty.

Paul is encouraging us to use this liberty for the benefit of others.

It is good to live a life of service where we are always seeking to help someone else.

Jesus lived this way and this type of love is a wonderful thing.

Our good works should be seen as they will encourage other people and lead them to Christ.

Spiritual Exercise will give us the desire and the strength to do this.

HOW GENEROUS ARE YOU?

1 Cor 10:33 “Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.”

Paul was a generous man. He ended up with no money. He lived on the bare minimum.

He spent all of his money helping others.

He didn’t own an expensive house or have a car.

His entire existence was dedicated to the salvation of others and that makes me wonder about us.

Do I live too much for myself?

Spiritual Exercise leads us to the Savior and to introspective thoughts like this. It helps us with our priorities and makes us more like Paul and Jesus.

I like that, don’t you?

Praise God for the love of our Savior.

IF YOU ARE STRONG, THEN YOU NEED TO READ THIS.

Rom 15:1 “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”

This is love.

Some are constantly seeking pleasure.

Some are constantly seeking convenience.

Some are constantly seeking rest.

But, God wants us to willing and able to help those in need. This will be an inconvenience. This will be disruptive. But, love looks beyond pleasure.

Love is kind under all circumstances.

I like that about Jesus. He helped people. He didn’t just preach.

Praise God for the love of our Savior.

CAN YOU FIND SOMEONE TO HELP TODAY?

Rom 14:1 “Him that is weak in the faith receive ye”

The church isn’t for the elite. It is more of a hospital for sinners.

Those with weak faith should be included, not to argue and control, but to edify and help.

Our attitudes should be humble as we work with each other to come closer and closer to God.

Although salvation is individual and not a team effort, we can encourage each other.

We can all be spiritual physicians and help the Great Physician who is Jesus Christ.

So, let’s turn our churches into hospitals and let the healing process begin.

Of course, we can help others only if we engage in daily Spiritual Exercise ourselves.

DO YOU FEEL THE NEED FOR IMPROVEMENT?

“God desires all who believe in Him to feel the necessity of improvement.” (Ellen White, 1899)

We are not to be deluded into a feeling of superiority that leads to pride.

As we learn of our needs, we are not to be discouraged, but to come closer to Jesus for greater strength.

Our attention must always be toward Jesus, and the more righteous we become, the more we will see our needs. This is the help we receive to maintain our humility.

People who have reached perfection, never boast about it. (see 1 John 1:8) They are more interested in the great blessings derived from their very close relationship to God.

You and I, who have the greater need, should come to God through Spiritual Exercise, and spend much time with Him each day.

IF YOU ARE SUFFERING TODAY, MAKE IT SPIRITUAL

Rom 12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice”

The apostle Paul reminds us that our attitude should be prepared to sacrifice. That is, we should face all issues as spiritual.

In this manner we can glorify Jesus throughout our entire life.

We can praise God for blessings, and we can suffer with dignity as did Jesus when things go wrong.

Ever faithful, we can turn to Jesus at all times and grow closer and closer to Him through Spiritual Exercise no matter what conditions control us.

I praise God for this ability to pray, meditate and study the Bible.

WHAT BLESSINGS DO YOU HAVE TODAY?

Ps 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”

If you have money. If you have a job. If you are blessed with many children. If you are good looking. This is what it’s about.

Your blessings have a purpose and it’s not about you. We are blessed in order to draw other people to Jesus.

When people see our blessings they are drawn to us and this is an opportunity for us to show them how to love and be sensitive.

You and I are in a partnership with Jesus – a partnership to save souls.

We should view our blessings as tools for salvation and not with greed.

You are beautiful or handsome for a reason and we should come close to God through Spiritual Exercise in order to increase our zeal to work for God.

This is a privilege and opportunity to help others out of love.

I praise God for your blessings.

DO YOU LIKE HIGH ENERGY PEOPLE?

Col 2:23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”

I love high energy people. Don’t you?

This week I met Amy who entered my home with smiles, questions and eagerness. And after talking for over an hour her presence lingered with me for several hours after she left.

I believe that this Bible text is speaking to this issue.

As we come closer to Jesus we do things heartily and this energy feeds others who are in need of encouragement.

Energy is a beautiful thing, and added to creativity it goes off my charts. I just love being around these people, don’t you?

Spiritual Exercise increases my energy and makes me more happy. What more could I want?

It is my hope and desire that you share in this wonderful lifestyle that leads to a holy life in Christ.

ARE YOU FULL OF GOD’S SPIRIT TODAY?

1 Cor 6:19-20 “What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you”

This is not reserved for pastors, or bishops. No, this is for you and me.

We should be so filled with the Spirit of God that our entire lives are different.

This is a calling for all Christians.

Stop and think about this. Do you feel the Holy Spirit yet today?

If not, then more Spiritual Exercise is needed in your life.

As we spend time with God in the morning, the remainder of the day is much different.

We have the privilege of being a blessing to many people who are in need.

We have the privilege of helping people who want more in their life.

HOW IMPORTANT ARE THESE WORDS TO YOU?

Luke 10:27 “And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.”

This is, perhaps, the most important text in all of Scripture.

Jesus repeated Deut. 6:5 and underscored its importance.

These words encapsulate the character of God for He is love.

Stop and meditate upon these words. Spend time thinking about them and what they mean.

These words are life-changing.

These words have massive meaning.

Studying these words is a good Spiritual Exercise.

I hope you can take time today to do this.

HOW DOES IT FEEL TO OWN NOTHING?

Ps 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.”

Yes, we are only caretakers. We do not own anything. We only take care of what is God’s.

But we can, through our works, reveal a love for our Lord.

We can be good environmentalists. We can waste little and recycle.

Our homes can be neat and the land around our houses can be decorated with flowers and trees.

We can be a blessing to our neighbors.

HOW HOLY IS YOUR DAY OF WORSHIP?

Ez 20:20 “And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.

Christians today have forgotten God’s requirements.

Christians today fail to keep God’s day of worship holy as they have made it a day of entertainment.

Throughout history Christians have kept either Saturday or Sunday holy as a day of worship, but suddenly in the lat 200 years this has been abandoned.

I encourage you to study and meditate upon this question and let the Holy Spirit guide you.

HOW CLOSE TO JESUS WILL YOU COME IN THIS NEW YEAR?

HOW CLOSE TO JESUS WILL YOU COME IN THIS NEW YEAR?

Rom 1:20 “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”

People who deny the existence of God have no excuse.

They can look into the heavens, they can look into the microscope.

As they see the work of God, the Holy Spirit speaks to their hearts, and they can then either accept or reject the presence of the Holy Spirit.

You and I need not argue about God. No, we are just ambassadors and witnesses.

It is meant for people also to see God reflected in us.

As we spend time in Spiritual Exercise our countenance changes and we reflect the glory of God.

This is another avenue for people to see God.

WHAT DO YOU SEE WHEN YOU LOOK INTO THE NIGHTTIME SKY?

Ps 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.”

We, as Christians, should take a lively interest in nature. To be interested in astronomy is to influence others to do the same.

As the non-believer looks into the night sky, he will be studying the handiwork of God.

If we influence someone to study birds, or flowers, or gardening, we will also be doing the same.

This is an opportunity for us to gently guide people to God through indirect means.

It will also strengthen our faith.

To be connected to God is what I’m after and I pray that you share in this.

YOU AND I ARE IMPORTANT PEOPLE WITH A BIG FUTURE

Heb 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

We serve a living God!

We serve!

Throughout eternity we will live lives of service and help each other with heavenly tasks as ambassadors for Jesus.

Yes, we will have jobs. We will be a part of the heavenly diplomatic corps.

We will represent Jesus to all other inhabited worlds. We will always be closer to Jesus than any other created beings.

Because we have been forgiven more, then we will love more. This is a simple fact that Jesus described to His disciples.

And now we are able to love God more and this is exciting news.

I praise God for Jesus. Over and over I praise Him.

YOU TOO CAN RISE ABOVE CONDEMNATION TODAY

Rom 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”

This statement doesn’t say that the law has been abolished.

No. It says that we are no longer condemned by it.

For those who engage in Spiritual Exercise, life is different because we come closer to Jesus where the Holy Spirit can change our human desires and behavior.

Once we are walking with God, our sins are forgiven and as we come closer and closer we will reach the point where we longer sin at all.

Isn’t this exciting?

I’m sure there are many saints in the church who don’t sin, and although they once sinned, they now have a peace that is heavenly.

You and I are on the same journey and it is wonderful.

Today, I hope you engage in Spiritual Exercise and come closer to Jesus through Bible study, prayer and meditation upon God’s Word.

GOD’S GRACE IS BEAUTIFUL

Rom 6:14-15 “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.”

There is a difference between old sin and new sin. Grace covers old sin, but we are counseled to not incur new sin. But if we do have new sin, and confess with remorse and contrition, then they also are forgiven and grace prevails.

Some are confused about sin and grace.

Some think that the law has been abolished and it is impossible to sin.

Some are confused and mislead.

You and I should not worry about sin or the law.

You and I should be more concerned about coming closer to Jesus through Spiritual Exercise.

Walking with Jesus is a delightful experience and it is sad that so many fail to understand this.

DO YOU ABUSE GOD’S GRACE?

Rom 6:1-2 “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.

It is a temptation to abuse God’s mercy and grace.

The goal of the spiritual life is to become more and more like Jesus and eventually cease sinning altogether.

Some people are mislead to believe there is no law and therefore no sin, but this is wrong.

As we come closer and closer to Jesus through Spiritual Exercise of prayer, study and meditation upon God’s Word, we recognize our sins and feel remorse for them.

God is willing to forgive, but when we abuse the privilege then we resist the Holy Spirit and God can do nothing for us.

I praise God for His love.

THERE WERE SIGNS THEN AND THERE ARE SIGNS NOW

Mt 27:51 “And, behold the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent:”

There was no mistaking the fact that the earth shook when Jesus laid down His life for you and me.

The earth shook.

Today there are similar signs as the earth slides further and further into sin.

Today there are signs as wars, and earthquakes increase.

These signs reassure you and me, and should be a wake up call for those who don’t walk with Jesus daily.

We can encourage others by example as we engage daily in Spiritual Exercise. We can be salt to a hungry world. We can be light to a darkened world.

Join me today and come close to Jesus so His character can be seen in a broken world.

READ AND REJOICE!

Luke 2:10-11 “And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”

Can you imagine how the shepherds felt as they heard those words?

The angels sang to the glory of God. Can we do anything less?

I pray that you will be blessed today as you think of our Lord’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

LET’S BE LOVING TODAY :)

John 15:12 “This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.”

The last part of this verse is powerful and descriptive. It helps us understand what love encompasses.

Love is more than a feeling. It is more than an understanding. It involves action.

I pray that you and I will be loving today.

As we partake of divine nature, let love permeate our character and all of our actions.

Of course, Spiritual Exercise helps us be more loving and I encourage you to join me in that also.

DO YOU ALSO BEAR GOOD FRUIT?

Mt 7:21-23 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

It’s not enough to know Jesus.

We must also do His bidding and bear good fruit.

Good fruit is love, sensitivity, tenderness, compassion and selflessness.

This is the same as Jesus demonstrated 2,000 years ago.

Spiritual Exercise helps us to achieve this and bear good fruit.

I pray that all of us might respond and fill the role God has for us.

TO KNOW JESUS ISN’T ENOUGH

Rom 6:12 “Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.”

As we come to Jesus we desire to become like Him, and comparing our behavior to His law is how we achieve feedback on our progress.

The lawyer says that the law condemns us, but the Christian sees higher meaning. The law is our friend as it informs. The law has been superceded by grace.

But we still follow the law as we follow Jesus because the law conforms to love.

God’s law reflects His loving character and that is good for us also.

I praise God for His law that guides and advises.

DO YOU KNOW RIGHTEOUSNESS?

Isa 51:7 “Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.”

We can conclude from this text that if you look into the spiritual mirror and see that God’s law is in your heart, then you do know righteousness.

Under this condition, people live much differently as they fear nothing, and have no worries.

It is amazing how many people are stressed to the breaking point, when this solution lies before their eyes.

Living with Christ is a great blessing and you and I should encourage more and more people to join us in daily Spiritual Exercise.

I praise God for this promise that He keeps.

DO YOU DARE CONSIDER THIS HARD TRUTH?

Eccl 12:13-14 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”

Yes, this is the hard truth. Someday we will be judged.

Our whole duty is to come to God and become like Him, and this can be done only by Spiritual Exercise.

The closer to God I become, the more awesome and great He is in my human eyes.

Life is so much better and fulfilling when we are closer to Jesus.
